Singapore Travels!

Here is another Summer travel update! I'm sorry I'm so far behind on my travel posts, I hope to catch up this week!

Although I only spent a short 39 hours in Singapore, I absolutely loved my time there! Singapore is a city-state; a concept I've always been really fascinated with! The city itself is a wonderful mix of new and old cultural celebrations, buildings, food, and ways of life. I also loved how diverse Singapore was. On my (self-guided) walking tour of Singapore I passed through many different and culturally diverse areas of Singapore. Although there are so many different types of people living in Singapore, it seemed to be a peaceful cohesion of all of the cultures. I loved being able to experience tastes of the Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, and Bugis cultures. I really appreciated being able to appreciate and learn about all of these different cultures in such a short amount of time.

Singapore is a very technologically advanced society; but many parts of Singaporean society are still the same as they were 50-100 years ago. Families all live together in government issued apartments, hang their laundry out the windows on huge adjustable poles, and eat at small hawker community centers.

One of my favorite parts of the city was visiting the SuperTree Grove at night. The light shows are truly magical and the Singapore skyline is gorgeous!

Next post will be on travels through Japan :)
