First post from Thailand!

Hello my wonderful friends and family! Today I have officially been in Thailand for  week! The time has flown by and I just finished up my week long teacher orientation in Bangkok. Tonight, I'm moved into my house, but tomorrow all of the unpacking begins!
This week I was able to do so many incredible things! I will write a few blog posts about what I did since it was so much, but I will start with two things below 😁


These two pictures were taken from our hotel in Bangkok. We stayed on the River of Kings and our view was so very breathtaking! Every day was filled with training and classes, but we had time to try fun restaurants and bars together at night.




These set of pictures are from a river cruise on the Kings River! We had a great time doing karaoke, drinking Thai beer, and eating delicious food. Our boat went by this wonderful bridge and the Royal Palace.







All of these pictures in this set were taken in Bangkok! My friend got to feed our elephant friend and we got to see a beautiful traditional Thai show with dancing too!

Sports Day at Anuban Saraburi!

Hello Everyone!  I know it's been so long since I blogged! So, I will be trying to send out a few blogs to catch up in the next couple days! My family came to visit, I took 9 days off, and now I am swamped with giving 8 midterms to 35 students, so I apologize for my blogging absence. :) I wanted to write a blog about the amazing spectacle that is Sports Day in Thailand! When I was told "Teacha, we have sports day in 2 weeks. Students miss many class and we have no teaching all day on sports day," I was confused, but I happily obliged. Many times our morning assembly (which is all in Thai, aka I can't understand it) the  entire 3,000 student body would start running to 4 corners of our giant school field. I quickly realized the entire school is split into 4 colors in kindergarten; red, yellow, green and blue. Japan and Hong Kong Travels!

I've almost completed all of my blogs on my Summer travels (which is a good thing considering we've been in school almost three weeks now) :) This summer I was also fortunate enough to spend time in Japan and Hong Kong. I visited Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, and Okinawa in Japan. I'm honestly having a hard time putting into words just how amazing Japan and Hong Kong both were. Both countries are full of such rich history. Before visiting Japan, I felt that I had a pretty clear picture in my mind of what to expect, but I was completely wrong. I believed that I was going to "the land of advancement" in all things technologically related; even toilets! While Japan is indeed advanced (even the toilets; the play music, wipe, spray, and warm your behind), Japan is also so much more than I gave it credit for. American Healthcare vs Thai healthcare

Healthcare is another hot button topic. Healthcare costs can plunge an entire family into life-altering debt, but it can also save your life. Love it or hate it, it's a necessary part of life. I have experienced hospitals and interacted with both doctors and nurses in America and Thailand; here is my experience in both countries. Good Ol USA: Before I moved to Thailand, I tore multiple ligaments in my ankle and was not able to walk. I immediately went to the Emergency Room. MANY stacks of paperwork were filled out and I could not be seen by any medical professional without signing over consent and showing proof of identification.
