Wai Khru Day

Hello again! Sorry for my hiatus again. This school year has felt incredibly busy! I am tutoring 1-2 students every day on top of my normal school day routine. :)

Last month we celebrated Wai Khru Day!

Wai Khru Day is when students come together to thank their teachers. In Thai society, teachers are held in very high regard. Teachers are revered right after monks, something that is a wonderful change from how teachers are treated in America!

Students make beautiful and large floral arrangements to give to their teachers. Students also buy beautiful small flower garlands to give to the teacher. When the small garlands are given, the student is also given a wish/ blessing from the teacher. The student bows in front of the teacher and then teacher places their hand on the students head. As they do this, they give them a wish for their life. For example, "I wish that you will continue learning" or "I wish that you will bring your kindness to all you meet."

This day made me feel SO appreciated and loved by my students.
Here are some snapshots from the day.
